Apple retailer iRaffles opens in Pakistan

A new Apple retailer has opened in Lahore, Pakistan. It's not an official Apple Store, but a joint venture between Apple and Pakistan-based retailer Raffles. Called "iRaffles," the store was officially opened by US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson late last week.

This marks the first store for Pakistan. If you're a TUAW reader in the Lahore area, please send us any pictures and stories you have!

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I was there yesterday. The staff is really cooperative. They are currently organizing free Apple training workshops. I have uploaded some photos here:

Dear Tuaw,
You guys seem to have made a huge mistake here. iRaffles is not the first of its kind in Pakistan. Bawany Technologies has been an Apple Premium Reseller in Karachi, Pakistan, for over three years now (the same status as iRaffles).

The store is in PACE Lahore. I visited last day it was not a very big one like of Apple standard but it is a good effort to put apple on display. The store name is iStore and according to store management MD Apple inaugurated it. Isn't it really coool!

Yay!

Yeah! iPhone is the rocking device in Pakistan, I helped my cousin down there to unlock his iPhone and then he go crazy and got more for his friend and then they have iPhone Mania!

So, I expect now that WARID Telecom or Mobilink or Ufone (Mobile Network Operator) will be one of the iPhone Exclusive Networks? God knows! But I know after India, Steve Jobs will do strike a deal with the Mobile Network Operator about iPhone Exclusivity. And I bet the WARID will be the one who gonna carry OR it will be Unlock like Australian Market.

Reason is , from United Mobile (a company who deals in Mobile Phones only, not the contract) will be the leader to get that kind of deal right from the Apple.

Let see, how things gonna turn-around.

And how do i know about "United Mobile" and the Network Operators? Because I immigrated from Pakistan in 2002, and then visited down there in 2007 for my marriage.

So you know I have roots down there! But now next-gen is getting their roots down here! US and A ! yaaaay!

Wow! The first store to open in Pakistan! Amazing to think they've gone this long without any stores. ;-)
