Steve Jobs has a 'common bug'
Normally I wouldn't even post about this, but several people have commented on the way Steve Jobs looked during his keynote yesterday. Most folks seemed to think that he looked a little thinner than usual, which of course makes one think back to his battle with cancer. An Apple PR person assured the Wall Street Journal that Steve has been fighting a 'common bug' for the last few weeks, and he is on the mend.Everyone here at TUAW hopes Steve feels better soon! We should probably send him an iCard before they go away.

This makes me wonder... who could take over Apple and guide it into a great future - building on the vision of Steve Jobs? In my limited view Mark Shuttleworth of Ubuntu Linux comes up as a good man to join Apple's board. He has vision and passion and energy, and his heart seems to be in the right place.

Adenocarcinoma of the pancreas is very lethal since by the time you feel sick, it has most likely metastasized. In both cases, the standard of care is surgical removal, not chemo - hence he still has hair.
He didn't do himself any favors either since he has some peculiar ideas about modern medicine and tried to treat it through a special diet for 9 months, before someone finally talked some sense into him and cut the darn thing out.
My way of comparison, noted Paul Newman's appearance:

Obviously, Steve is much younger, but still. . .
i seriously hope he's alright. hope he gets better soon. god bless him.
plus, we still need to be on the road to destroy microsoft. it's impossible without steve. :(
pancreas cancer is real bad and I do hope it's not returning again. Even with all his faults and missteps I cringe at the thought of a Steveless Apple...
June 11 2008 at 6:57 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIf you compare his fysical appearance to the average american, he DOES look very skinny.
If you compare it to the physical appearance of europeans and the rest of the world population, he looks perfectly fine.
By the way, the fact that he has hair suggests that he is not being treated for cancer. That's not for sure, but it's a likely assumption.
So either A.) It's not cancer, or B.) It is cancer, and it's so bad they're not even trying to treat it, or C.) Steve is trying a holistic approach, which I could see him doing.
The only question left: will speculation on Steve's illness reach iPhone pre-launch proportions? If so, will the bug live up to expectations?
