Steve Jobs has a 'common bug'
Normally I wouldn't even post about this, but several people have commented on the way Steve Jobs looked during his keynote yesterday. Most folks seemed to think that he looked a little thinner than usual, which of course makes one think back to his battle with cancer. An Apple PR person assured the Wall Street Journal that Steve has been fighting a 'common bug' for the last few weeks, and he is on the mend.Everyone here at TUAW hopes Steve feels better soon! We should probably send him an iCard before they go away.

Ok so I wasn't the only one who immediately noticed that his Steveness was looking a bit gaunt.
I sure hope he's really alright.

Nope, his voice also seemed a bit more hoarse, and he was coughing a bit more than usual.

The dude looked sickly. Plus he seems to be slowly phasing himself out of keynotes. Forstall is getting lots of facetime. Jobs had lots of 'help' showing off Leopard features too (i.e. Forstall demoing Time Machine).

I just noticed a good comparison here:

I care about Steve Jobs as much as a would a family member. He has meant a lot in my life, and I can only hope he isn't going through something worse than a cold. My father and I were discussing the keynote last night and we both agreed Steve didn't look well. My father works in the medical field, and was very worried by Steve's appearance. We're here for ya Stevie.

Steve looked gaunt but he didn't seem to have a problem with a keynote speech that lasted over ninety minutes.

Of which he was on stage for maybe half the time.

probably just a case of convention flu. being around several thousand people, someone's bound to get sick.

"Steve Jobs didn't fight cancer, he taunted it and played with it like a cat before killing it out of boredom."

I'm sure he'll be patched in the next software update.

I hate to say this, but Steve has been looking way too thin for longer than just a few weeks. He was that thin at the March Apple event as well (go back and view the video). But it seems as if poeple either didn't notice back then (I certainly did) or people chose to ignore it and hope he would return to a healthy weight. I pray he is o.k., but I fear something is up.

I do hope that it was just a "common bug." But he's lost a noticeable amount of weight since last year:

I wonder what he's like at home... *sniggers* at the idea of a Victor Meldrew/Steve Jobs hybrid!
