First South Carolina Apple Store to open Saturday
The last time that we looked into the Charleston, South Carolina Apple Store, they were only in the construction/hiring process. Well, the time has finally come: some South Carolinians will rejoice, while others (like me) will want more. Apple has announced that the first South Carolina store will open this Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. The King Street Apple Store is located at 301 King Street in the downtown district. What do you think about the first Apple retail store coming to South Carolina? Do you support their (belated) efforts? Will you be attending the grand opening? Do you have pictures of the store?
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

What we really need is an Apple Store in the upstate, namely in Greenville. That would be great.

Amen, the Best Buy is not cutting my Apple craving.

The first store was supposed to be in Greenville, but they couldn't find a suitable space in the state's largest mall. There's a new development going up that it will go in, but that has been delayed for more than a year due to the economy.

Living in Myrtle Beach and working in Georgetown, it's not to far of a drive down the road to visit this Apple Store. Would much rather have one at the beach, but it's still closer than NC.

iPlace is moving downtown Greenville soon. Meanwhile they beefed up their inventory big time! Best buy has also started to sell macs. Although it would still be nice for Apple to place a to place a store here. Charleston is too far away. Charlotte is even closer than that!

Please, an Apple Store in Columbia.
But I'm glad we're getting one finally.

I am fully supportive as I have been waiting a long time for this. And yes, I will be there early for the opening. Actually delaying a vacation for it. Can't wait.

I heard that the first SC store was going to be at Clemson University. Someone said that it actually is open but that the grand opening will be in August (when school starts back I suppose). It may not be an actual "official" Apple Store as I heard they won't be carrying the iPhone. So it looks like Charleston is going to beat them to the grand opening punch.
I totally agree on the upstate! I live in Greenville and while having Best Buy carrying Macs is great, it's just not the same. And don't even get me started on iPlace!

This is the first I've heard, so I'm all excited now. I just moved here from 20 minutes away from the Norfolk store. I was quite bummed that this area did not have an Apple store. Lo and behold, I'm barely here two weeks and Apple is opening one. Apparently they were waiting for me, so I will be sure to be there for the grand opening.

This will be great for Chuckleston. And right next to the College of Charleston. Very glad it's happening. Though the biz crowd is pretty conservative in town, I predict very strong sales from the college kids, the creative folks in the area, and the tourists.

it's hard to fathom the thought that there hasn't been an Apple Store in Charleston, SC... one of the wealthiest and uppity towns in the country.
If any place in SC is the right fit, it's definitely Charleston. Great town.

I plan on being there Saturday morning. I hope there isn't some crazy amount of people. I was hoping this news wouldn't be posted but, oh well. Glad it's finally opening.

Would love to have one in the Midlands. Sandhills would be the ideal location.

Greenville? Just go up to Charlotte. We need one here in Columbia Bad. I think I could support the store by myself. My Apple addiction is bad.

Charlotte? Columbia is closer to Charlotte than Greenville is...
Charleston is a good location for an Apple store; seems to cater to the Apple type.
