Rumor: Steve Jobs will appear at Sept. 9 event
Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster is having a busy week. First, he predicted that the iPhone will go non-exclusive in the US by next year, and today he's suggesting that Steve Jobs will appear at Apple's September 9th press event. We fully expect new iPods and iTunes next Wednesday, but Steve would be a surprise. We know that he's returned to work, but this would be his first public appearance as Apple's head since he took medical leave back in January. Depending on how he looks, a visit from Steve could nudge the stock up a notch or two.
It sure would be fun to see Steve, but we hope he's happy and healthy more than anything. In any case, we've got just over a week to wait. Keep your fingers crossed.

It would make sense for Steve to make an appearance, but not run the show on the 9th. He would still want others to stay in command, but he'll want others to know he is on the mend.
Could this be the tablet that we are all hoping for, even though the rumors are striking against it? We can hope.

if you'll believe that, then you'll believe this report by Shaw Wu at Kaufman Bros that says he WONT show.

Analysts suck. All they do is try to drive the market in their favor by flinging their bullshit to blog sites like this and we just eat it up.

IF he shows up, I predict a 5 minute, roaring ovation.

Is there anything Munster won't predict?
I could have predicted that he's likely to be on stage next week!
What next? His attire for the event? That'll be black turtleneck n jeans!
Cheque please...

I really don't understand you people that rag on others for doing their jobs. This is what Analysts get paid to do. You don't have to agree with what they predict, but you don't have to belittle them either just because this is the internet.

We rag on them because they are always wrong. Always. In every other line of work they would be fired, but since they're an "analyst" they get to make up s*** and be quoted by every newspaper, TV show, and blog on the planet.

We rag them because they're either wrong, or the 'predictions' they do make are so obvious that they don't need mentioning.
What many expect from these 'analysts' is something in-depth. Predictions that can only be made with X number of years experience in the technology sector, an address book full of prime contacts, and some actual thought and research.
In the technology world, these 'analysts' get portrayed as the philosophers of our time, but what they come up with is far from revolutionary.
