iTunes 9.0.1 now in Software Update
Fire up your Software Updates, gang: the new version of iTunes is here -- with bug fixes and tweaks to help those who were suffering from iTunes 9 issues. The update's fixes include:
- Resolves issues browsing the iTunes Store.
- Addresses a performance issue where iTunes may become unresponsive.
- Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit.
- Fixes a problem syncing Podcasts in playlists to iPod or iPhone.
- Fixes a problem sorting albums with multiple discs.
- Addresses an issue with the Zoom button not switching to Mini Player.
- Improves application syncing for iPod touch and iPhone.
- Genius is now automatically updated to show Genius Mixes.
The update is close to 90 MB, and like the previous iTunes 9 build it requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 and up, or Windows XP + newer. Note that the Mac version requires Safari 4 as well as QuickTime 7.6.

Download I love stars. It sits in the menu bar and lets you rate any song being played in itunes.

Hello all,
I have not been able to access the i tunes store for months [different error reports]
I've tried un-installing and re-installing, I've tried to correct the issue....and now I've read a post that said to forget the 9.0 version and use an older version of i tunes any help out there? I use windows xp

I will not be installing this update until I figure a way to get rid of that "fix" I love that the green button finally acts like a normal app instead of that stupid little player.

doug: this probably isn't what you're looking for, but holding down the option key turns it into a more traditional green button.

This change to the green button functionality brought it in line with all other apps, including the PC version of iTunes! Why change it back?
If Apple want to respond to public pressure, why don't they give us back our BLACK BACKGROUND and revert from that horrible new iTunes Store?

Hell no! Just when they've fixed one of the most annoying things in the iTunes, they've broken it again!
WHY in the world would "Zoom" button switch to a freaking _MINI_ player??? Zoom should behave as it does in all other applications: zoom window! For Mini Player there should simply be a hotkey and a menu option.

I dunno why it does that, but thats what I use to get to the mini player, and I switch back and fourth very often. If the zoom button zoomed, and then there was a button dedicated to toggling the mini player i'd be fine.
But going from 1 click mini to full to a hotkey combination or multiple clicks/menu navigation was just awful for me. Like i said, dont mind if they make the zoom feature zoom, but in exchange give me a 1 click solution to get in/out of mini player.

They switched the + button's functionality, now, when option-clicked, it works as every other + button does.

Agreed. I preferred it the new way, where it acts like every other app. But you get users moaning either way. Apple bottled it and returned it back to the way it was, which is inconsistent. An option in the settings will sort this out once and for all.

@Brian: Apple violates their own Human Interface Guidelines by using non-standard action for a standard button. And for the "Mini Player" you have your keyboard on your Mac. I don't remember last time I've seen a Mac that doesn't have those media control keys (in my case they're on the same keys as F7, F8 and F9).
