Tonight's TUAW Talkcast: Back to school and an iPod announcement preview
Sunday night is the funnest night of the week, when you can join the TUAW staff for an hour or so of live banter about what's happened in the Apple world in the previous week. This week, we'll also be chatting about the mystery Apple press conference on Wednesday, which probably isn't too much of a mystery given the past history of September press meetings.It's also the time of year when the kids are going back to school, so we'll talk about some of the best Apple and third-party products and software for students of all ages.
To participate on TalkShoe, you can use the browser-only client, the embedded Facebook app, or the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for maximum fun, you should call in. If you've got a headset or microphone handy on your Mac or your PC, you can connect via the free Gizmo or X-Lite SIP clients or using the Talkshoe client's ShoePhone tool; basic instructions are here.

August 30 2010 at 1:32 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMy guess would be an iPod Touch with a 1Ghz processor and a retina display. Which since I just gave up my iPhone and AT&T in favor of people being able to get ahold of me. (Not a crack at AT&T in general, just in my area.)
August 29 2010 at 9:11 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAs a college student I can't tell you just how excited for the new iPod Touch I am!! I see people saying they don't get the point in the iPod Touch and things along those lines but for me it is a life saver!!
I don't have any credit and certainly not enough money for the iPhone and I have no use for the iPad as my college books don't support it. I understand the new iPod Touch may be rather expensive but for what it can do we all know these Apple products are well worth it and it is just the one time buying it (vs a phone plan obviously).
Also my plan this year is to get the poor man's phone (Virgin Mobile prepaid phone) for $10 and get this iPod Touch for everything else! I hope TUAW covers the iPod Touch more, it seems to be smothered out by the iPad and iPhone as of late. I have the old 1G iPod Touch and it's on life support so I *REALLY* hope Apple makes this new iPod Touch as close to the new iPhone as possible in terms of design, hardware and software!!
And of course our favorite part of the show: Kelly's House of Crackpot Theories!! And the infamous aftershow :) but I am in the pack of people going back to school so not sure how late I can stay on.. :(
