Apple first introduced Apple Intelligence at WWDC 2024, touting a dramatically more capable, context-aware version of Siri. Yet, as 2025 draws to a close, the star feature of that announcement remains missing in action. The upgraded contextual Siri—arguably the most anticipated element of Apple Intelligence—still hasn’t reached users.
But that may finally change. Macworld has uncovered new clues suggesting the long-awaited Siri overhaul is scheduled to debut next spring. The outlet reviewed internal Apple code from a leaked iOS 26 build that includes components directly tied to the redesigned Siri system, indicating that Apple is actively progressing toward release.

These code references point to a long-standing internal timeline: spring 2026. The revamped Siri is expected to ship around the iOS 26.4 update window, nearly two years after it was first showcased.
A smarter, more aware Siri — and a new device
This next-generation Siri is poised to behave far differently than the assistant users know today. Rather than depending on rigid voice commands, the upgraded version is designed to understand on-screen content, open apps, and overall device context—making interactions feel more natural and intuitive.

The leaked build also hints at a major expansion: the new Siri experience won’t be confined to iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Macworld discovered evidence that Apple intends to bring this enhanced assistant to a smart home device as well, most likely the long-rumored “HomePad.”
According to the internal references, users will be able to speak to Siri conversationally on this device and access features like contextual reminders—functionality enabled by the HomePad’s reported A18 chip (codenamed J490), which is powerful enough to run Apple Intelligence locally.
As always, plans based on early software builds remain subject to change.
For now, Apple is preparing to roll out iOS 26.2 to the public in the coming days. While it doesn’t deliver new Apple Intelligence features, the update does introduce a few notable enhancements, including a Lock Screen slider for adjusting Liquid Glass effects and automatic chapter generation for the Podcasts app.
