Apple has reached a significant milestone in the entertainment industry. The company now holds awards from all four major entertainment categories: the Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards, Academy Awards, and Tony Awards. This achievement, known as EGOT status, places Apple among a select group of organizations with recognition across television, music, film, and theater.

The final piece of the puzzle came through Schmigadoon!, a musical comedy that began as a streaming series on Apple TV+ before finding new life on the stage. The theatrical adaptation recently secured four Tony Awards, helping Apple complete its impressive collection of top entertainment honors.

From Streaming Series to Broadway Success

The stage version of Schmigadoon! earned recognition in several major categories. The production won awards for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Orchestrations. These victories highlighted the show’s successful transition from television to live theater.

Interestingly, the stage adaptation emerged after Apple ended the television series following its second season. Rather than disappearing, the project evolved into a theatrical production that ultimately achieved even greater acclaim. As a result, the show’s creative team transformed an unexpected ending into a major opportunity.

A Rapid Rise in Entertainment

Apple entered the streaming business in late 2019. Soon after, the company began collecting prestigious awards. Its first major breakthrough came in 2020 when actor Billy Crudup won an Emmy Award for The Morning Show. Multiple Emmy wins followed in the years ahead.

Then, Apple made history in 2022 when CODA became the first film from a streaming service to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Earlier this year, Apple also earned a Grammy Award through Chris Stapleton’s contribution to the soundtrack of F1: The Movie.

Faster Than a Major Rival

What makes the achievement even more notable is the speed at which Apple reached EGOT status. The company completed the journey in approximately six years. By comparison, Netflix took roughly twice as long to earn the same distinction.

As competition among streaming platforms intensifies, Apple’s latest accomplishment demonstrates how quickly it has become a major force in entertainment. Moreover, the success of Schmigadoon! shows that strong storytelling can thrive across multiple formats, from television screens to theater stages.
