"I am an Air Traffic Controller at (airport name removed to protect the spies) airport in California. We recently noticed that one of the jets visiting the Gulfstream jet facility belonged to our very own Uncle Steve. If you Google N2N (the registration number) and click on the link to the FAA registry, you'll notice that it is registered to Steve Jobs!!!! It is kind of hard to see the N number in these pics, but it is Steve Jobs' very own Gulfstream."
Sure enough, this appears to be the Gulfstream V that Steve was given as a bonus when he returned to Apple as CEO.
This flying machine is capable of going Mach 0.885 - about 740 miles per hour, seats between 13 and 19 people and reportedly cost about $90 million dollars. When His Steveness got a Gulfstream of his very own, there were only 63 in existence. As of this day, I have not been invited to fly on any of them.

I sure do think he deserves it - it is mind boggling to think just how much value Steve has created for Apple shareholders. The company was circling the bowl before he came back, and now it's record profits upon record profits - all while building great products for us. Even if you don't like everything they've done, it's important to have competitors to keep companies like Intel and Microsoft in check (not to mention the RIAA).

It's interesting to note in the airliners.net pics that you can see the security camera mounted on the top leading edge of the vertical stabilizer.

Actually, I don't see any "security cameras." I do see, however, an air intake for either avionics or the air intake for the rudder boost motor.
Cool ride, nevertheless.

Yes, but didn't Apple & Pixar spring for a helipad at each of his offices?
So it's only a short chopper flight then. Sweet (lucky bastard).

The photos are slightly interesting, but the news is old--Apple gave Jobs the plane back in 2000. The company's annual report officially valued the plane at $43.5 million. Apple then also gave Jobs another $40.5 million to pay for the taxes and other costs associated with granting the plane.

Gary - now read the post again and tell us where you see any mention of it being NEW news that Steve has a Gulfstream? of course it isn't - and my link to a an article from 4 years ago demonstrates that. The post isn't about news, silly, it's about the excitement of one of our loyal readers who got a chance to see it "in person" and was in a position of being able to photograph it - and him wanting to share that exceitement.
So we're cool now, right? Cool :)

It would be interesting to find out exactly what the building is that the plane is registered to. It's not Steve Job's house because it's a business industrial area whatever it is. Check out the satelitte image from 2002.

Beeker,
Look at the very top of the vertical stabilizer. There's a protrusion that points forward and sort of downward. That's the camera. It's identical to the one on Mark Cuban's G-V. The video feeds to monitors in the cockpit and cabin.
