ChillyWilly, the Apple Store at the Gateway is rumored to be opened on Nov 5th. Shouldn't have to wait too long now!
November 01 2005 at 10:10 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI went to the grand opening in Thousand Oaks today. It was wonderful. I've been to one previous in Chicago area a few years ago. Today's was really fun. I waited online for 1 hr and was among the first 50 people in line. I watched the cleaning crew of the mall clean the glass door and walls. I watched regular ole mall people walk by the long line in bewilderment - "What are people waiting in line for?" I watched the people in line taking pictures with cells phone camera and regular cameras of the front of the store and then the people waiting in line. There were also professional photographers taking pictures also. Long line. I was in the store for 30 minutes and when I walked out the line was just as long, if not longer, than when I entered at 10 am. Gobs of people in the store buying up a storm. One new thing that has been added is this: about 2 minutes before store opening time, the clerks (in black t-shirts and black pants) run up and down the line yelling and clapping and giving people in line high-fives. A little crazy, but fun.

October 25 2005 at 4:07 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnother store in SoCal? Well, I guess there's a reason for it. I've been to the one at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, but haven't been to a grand opening yet. Hoping a Salt Lake store is in the works soon. Signed, Waiting in Salt Lake

October 25 2005 at 3:09 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt's nice to meet other Mac enthusiasts, that's pretty much it. I used to love waiting in line for concert tickets for the same reason, but that whole process has changed so I am only limited to Apple store openings! Fishes, narco.
October 25 2005 at 2:50 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHey Narco, or anyone else that repeatedly attends these, I'm just curious. Besides the T-shirt, what's the point of going to these store openings? Waking up extra early and waiting in line to see, well, pretty much everything you could see at an Apple store that's already open? I live nearby and could attend, but please clue me in as to why I would want to?
October 25 2005 at 2:18 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhy is it that the geniuses of Apple can open a dozen stores in LA and San Fran, but they can't seem to put one in the Central Valley??? I must be missing some vital piece of information that Mac users don't live in the Central Valley...Ok, I'm done.
