Make KDE look like OS X
Let's
face it, not everyone gets to use OS X. It is sad, but it is true. In fact some people have to use Linux running KDE (K Desktop Environment) of all things! If you are one of those sad souls a tutorial has been put together that makes your computing environment look kinda like OS X, so that you can at least pretend that you are using some cool Mac when in fact you're using some no name beige box that your little brother built for you (not that there is anything wrong with that).

You'd think by now all these open source fanatics would know about copyright infringement, don't you? This mod is illegal and infringes Apple's copyright.
Just ask the modders that made one for Windows. Apple legal kicked their butts.

derek:
I personally don't see this as copywrite infringment. If you were to go through the steps, required to make KDE look remotely like OS X, you'd realize that it is far from the real thing, and really leaves you wanting more, wanting the true OS X experience. Really, it would make me want to buy a Mac if i didn't already have one. Of course, there are those of us who can't quite afford one yet, but who want to get a taste of the OS Xperience a little early.
just my $0.02

"If you are one of those sad souls..."
I guess you didn't notice that most Linux users are quite proud of the distinction, just as we Mac users are. C'mon, now.

Gosh, I would use this for consistency, not because I crave to mimic OS X. Besides, half the fun of Linux is customization, and hey, why not change the GUI? That and I actually like KDE, beats Gnome, which always felt too limited to me, if not a bit tedious with it's general style and functionality, KDE was easier to quickly adapt to. Either way, sounds a bit high and mighty, like the backRow article did...
Also, I could have sworn I saw better mac skins for KDE, but trying to find a good theme is impossible half the time.

It seems Linux users also don't have a sense of humor about their OS, much like some Mac users. Come on, guys, I was joking.

oh good. i wasted two days trying to make KDE look like my mac (a year ago), and i couldn't even move the window buttons (red, yellow, green) to the left-hand side.
but as long as KDE, and more importantly, most applications provide an intuitive user interface, there's no point for me in switching to linux. and a user interface consists of so much more than the looks.

addendum. just had a look at their screenshots. The window buttons are ill-positioned, the menus are hard to read and look ugly (underlined letters, eewww). The Dock shows that the interface is missing an important feature of OS X's Quartz: it's not translucent. (But the window shown is!) The anti-aliased fonts look ugly, but that might be just because I'm viewing it on a TFT and they're rendered for a CRT.

If that thing looks like Mac OS X, then I look like Brad Pitt
