Memorial City Store Grand Opening Announced

Memorial City MapMac geeks in and around the Houston, TX area have begun receiving the "Come meet your new neighbor" emails which Apple sends out in preparation for a new Apple Store opening. The store located in the Memorial City Mall will hold its grand opening on June 17th at 10AM. As is standard practice with store openings, the first 1000 people through the doors will get a special edition t-shirt emblazoned with the name of the store. Customers will also be registered for a prize package which includes a 17" iMac, iPod nano, Canon PowerShot digital camera, and HP Deskjet printer. The new location will feature "The Studio" to provide support for creative amateurs and professionals alike.

As always, please send us your pictures and reports from the opening. Have fun!

(Thanks to everyone who sent this in.)

The closer it gets to Saturday the earlier I keep setting my arrival time. Although I don't think I'll be there at 5 a.m.!

#1,

You remind me of the tools who'd walk in from DFW airport and stopping me to ask where JR's place was located.

Texas does not:

Use horses as transport
have a large percentage of the population wearing 10 gallon hats
have people wearing massive belt buckles
steer and cattle roaming the streets
Have southfork ranch sitting in the middle of downtown Dallas.

Texas does have:

Paved roads
mass transit (though nothing as nice as up north)
Traffic snarls that rival LA in their size and time spent in traffic
Mexican food
and a good number of the accoutremants you've seen in many other locales.

We may have idiot politicians and bible thumpers living here, but I noticed that MOST of the states in the middle of the US are about the same in the belief system.

I'll be there at 5am, just like I was for the opening of the Woodlands store. Expect pictures and blog posts!

This is the second store in Houston.
And if you count The Woodlands, which is a bedroom community for Houston, then the count goes to three.

We are bigger and better here in the lone star state.

Funny. Actually the Apple stores are a big hit down here in Texas. You have to remember, we're the state of independents. Think different? Think Texas.

Besides, when I'm out riding my horse on the range nothing makes the time pass better than listening to a little Willie, or Lyle or Merle on my iPod. A new MacBook with OpenOffice is great for keeping track of my cattle. And when I finally make it home to my little home on the Brazos I love to snuggle up with my Front Row equipped iMac to watch old John Wayne movies.

Where are you from, Rhode Island? What do you use your Mac for? Email.

this one is close to me. easier to get to than the more "exclusive" Galleria location.
but I am surprised that both these staores are within 5 miles of each other.

People in Texas actually use Apple products? That's amazing... not that I want to be seen as being biased against any particular state, but I would have thought Texans would prefer a Microsoft-based system with Web Filter Turbo edition and Bible Reader 13.0.95. Then again Dubya did come from Texas and he has an iPod, so I suppose it is just another miracle of Apple's rising market penetration.
