Apple.com/movies

This probably means nothing, but Steve Rubel, he of Micro Persuasion, has noted that Apple.com/movies doesn't go to the normal Apple 'Page not found' page, but rather results in a 'Forbidden.'
Pointless speculation? You bet! Ah, I love it when an Apple special event is just around the corner. I suppose we'll all know on Sept. 12th.
Update: Nothing new here, Apple stores various QT movies in this location, but still isn't this stuff fun?

It is probably forbidded because that is the folder they store their movies in. I went to a get mac ad and it was located at movies.apple.com/movies, so im sure thats all it is. still, i can't wait for the announcement.

hi, i know that this is unrealted its just that i have some problems, that i hope the mac community, which one of a macs selling point is its helpful community, could help me with.
sorry if its long, you dont have to read
First off i am a new mac user after a life time of windows, so i figure maybe im missing something obvious to you guys, but foriegn to me. Ok 1st off i have airport express problems, my wireless speakers work, but internet does not, o ya by the way if this helps im using a macbook with 2gig ram and a 60 hard drive, and my ISP is comcast. Well that doesnt work and ive troubleshooted and read into it and it says i have a full wireless connection but ichat wont connect and i cant use any internet services. By the way ive connected to other wireless networks (school, unprotected neighbors) and it works fine, i dont think its my airport card.
Ok my second issue is more of a concern. Is it right thay my 5 year old pentium 4 with 512 ram run a browser and connect to sites faster then my new macbook with 2 gig ram using the SAME internet connection, same cable in fact (i switched back and forth to test). I dont understand, and at schools wireless network, this thing runs blazing fast, but here it seems crippled, is it comcast, a setting? i just dont know? And if this helps i use fire fox on my windows pc, and ive used omniweb(5.5 preview), firefox, camino, and safari, and yes i do understand how firefox would b slower, it uses gecko(i think) while safari and omniweb use webkit, yet they were wall the same speed, give or take a second and all slower.
sry this is long i just didnt know where else to turn and figure i could find help here. any suggestion drop me a line at smithboby@gmail.com (i know that sounds fake but its a secondary email adress for this kind of stuff)

Maybe I'm just a fanboy but I have faith that Apple will have something to blow us away on the 12th. Part of that may be the fact that the 8th is my birthday so I'm just hoping they come out with something cool for me to buy with my birthday money, lol.
If they come out with a way to stream video from my Mac mini and MacBook to my big screen, I'm in!

Well... What good is movies to most of Europe, I ask? We don't even have iTMS TV series yet. Apple needs to find a way to make contracts with the copyright holders to allow them to sell here in Europe as well before I even try to be interested.
One of the biggest arguments for getting an iPod (video) doesn't even exist over here. I *really* do hope that the "beta test" of wether TV series etc is profitable or not is over and that Europe finally gets some love (but I'm guessing the TV networks are the poblem). Hopefully movies - seeing that they are a bit more of an "international product" - will be easier to make selling arrangements for worldwide than what TV series seem to be.
"You got a new Widescreen Super-X iPod with wifi/gps for the sole purpose of getting movies and music and map data from the iTMS you say?" "Yeah, only there's no iTMS for me to connect to."
Feh.

Movies on apple's site come from movies.apple.com or images.apple.com
e.g. http://movies.apple.com/movies/us/apple/getamac_ads1/viruses_480x376.mov (view source on one of the get a mac ads)
notice that going to these URLs takes you back to apple.com
apple.com/movies is something else

You can actually replace movies.apple.com with www.apple.com and the videos still work. Nothing to see here kids, run along and play.

This is very old news. I discovered this about a year ago and reported it to www.MacDailyNews.com.
I thought that I sent it to you, too.

Actually, the folder is not on their server. I used a URL downloader program to download the folder and it gave a 404 error. Figure that one out.

That's been that way for a long, long time. See this: http://digg.com/apple/Apple.com_is_creating_a_MOVIES_section.
