Flickr Find: Leopard is late

TUAW reader Matt Laurie whipped up this fun desktop pic. Show the whole world that you are anxiously awaiting Apple's latest OS offering, in style. I have to say that I am OK with this delay. What's 4 months between friends? That being said, if Apple delays Leopard once more that will spell trouble and make me think of a certain often delayed OS offering from a little company in Redmond.

Update: It looks like Matt removed the pic for some reason.

The cycle time from 10.4 to 10.5 is about twice as long as the cycle time from 10.3 to 10.4, and I think will be about 2.5 times that of 10.2 to 10.3.

That's cool Jeremy. Some of us would be after an "Autumn" version anyhow.

Sorry but, OS 10.5 is merely an upgrade vista was a totally new OS. Delays for vista seem a little more forgivable but common apple i want it bad...

hehe, have you used Vista? I am not impressed. I wouldn't call that a new OS, since for backwards compatibility they just built on an older version of Windows. They had their chance to make the switch to a new OS that revolved around Internet security, etc like OS X. But no.

I think people are blowing this whole delayed release out of proportion. From a business standpoint, I think Apple was right to prioritize the iPhone over Leopard. The iPhone has huge potential for profit. There are so many possibilities for the device.

For example, one future possibility might be this: Imagine streaming songs over the data connection through AppleRadio with album art and other info displaying on screen, with options to purchase the songs through iTunes which would download straight to your iPhone. They could even sell radio advertising spots coupled with on screen interactivity for maximum damage. Something like this might be huge in creating new avenues for growth.
