Apple Store The Summit: Your reports

Apple Store Summit Mall, the long-awaited first Apple Store for the state of Alabama, finally opened this Saturday, the 14th. While we enjoyed Jeremy's sneak peek of the store's exterior, we're eager for interior shots as well. So, if any of our trusty TUAW operatives visit the store this weekend, please share your reports and/or pictures. Here's hoping you scored a T-shirt.

While you're there, show your love and set the display Macs internet homepages to TUAW!

Y'all are making me jealous! Greenville, SC is rumored to be getting South Carolina's first Apple Store sometime this year. My best friend moved from Greenville to Birmingham last year. He's fixin' to "make the switch" real soon.

The Summit opening in Birmingham was great due to the amazing apple staff that was as pumped as the customers. It was great. Here is link to my pictures ...

Sadly my wife and I were unable to make it to the Grand Opening at 10am. Since I had to work that morning (and we had a 2 hour drive to Birmingham after) we didn't make it to the store until about 4pm. Still the place was full, the employees were cheerful, and the store looked great.

The grand opening was at 10:00 AM Saturday, and the goal was to get 1000 people into the store by 11:30. We had some ominous clouds overhead, and friends and family in surrounding counties were calling in with reports of thunderstorms and hail. Luckily, the weather cooperated and those first thousand folks made it in without a drop of rain, and right on time.

I was there for the opening and had a great time. The store is a little smaller than thought it would be but the new design is really nice and clean. There is only one cash register(on the right side of the Genius Bar) and all the reps have wireless devices for completing your purchase. Basically, Apple gets it all right once again!
