Fire at Cupertino campus
A three-alarm blaze drew 60 firefighters to Apple's Cupertino campus on Tuesday night. Specifically, it was in building Valley Green Six at 20705 Valley Green Drive. San Francisco's ABC 7 television news has some video.Investigators suggested that an air conditioning unit could have been the culprit. Fortunately, all employees escaped unharmed. No word on how much damage was done to the building, although some reports say the smoke damage was substantial.
We're very glad that no one was hurt, and hope the damage isn't too bad.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

"No word on how much damage was." Surely there's a word missing.
As I said in another post, are there any proof-reader vacancies going at TUAW?

--...she was like "I hate my job, I'm gonna burn this mother down!" And I said "You better not!"
--She said it was an electrical fire.
--It was. It was a total electrical fire, it was like uh, the switches had sparks comin' out, and the sockets, and uh it was like the 4th of July, man!

Air conditioning unit? Yeah, right. We all know Apple was testing their new iLightYouOnFire, the ultra-portable flamethrower for the rest of us.

Let's just hope this doesn't delay the "major product transition."

Probably a laptop battery. Aren't all technology fires caused by laptop batteries?

So this isn't the main Infinite Loop campus? Still have yet to get down there, I do know that Apple has numerous campuses around Cupertino though. Question, does anybody know what was housed in this building? I can hear it now.
"Steve, this is the Fire Department, one of your buildings is on Fire."
"Oh man, which one is it?"
"I believe it is the Valley Green Campus."
"OH SHIT, Thats where we are developing the new... oh man, umm. Let it burn, don't let anybody in the building, then they might know things."
"But sir, we can..."
"Nobody enters the building, is that clear?"
"But Mr. Jobs..."
"NOBODY, Good Day!"

It's across de Anza Blvd from the main campus, about 500 yards west with many other "normal" office buildings.

This was a quote a week ago about when the MobileMe switched to Eddy:
"Steve and Apple aren't terribly tolerant of that kind of major screwup," says von Rospach. "Just imagine Steve Jobs wandering the hall with a flame thrower in hand, asking random people 'do you work on MobileMe?'"
So, we know what happened :( At least MobileMe will be improved.

Well if we find out no one was in the building at the time of the fire, we'll know it was the MobileMe customer service center.
