Chicago Apple Store bricked Tuesday night
Police say an inebriated man threw a brick at the front window of Chicago's Magnificent Mile Apple Store on Tuesday night. The man also broke another window a short distance away.
A Tribune photo shows a single broken panel of glass in front of one of Apple's "giant iPhone" displays. From the photo, it looks as if the brick did not go through the glass, and the display appears unharmed.
Robert Grilly, 61, of Chicago was booked on two misdemeanor counts of criminal property damage, Chicago PD said.
Thanks, Paul!

Is there so little Apple news to report that something so inconsequential as this makes in onto TUAW? Very very sad...

what's up with the police beat, is TUAW getting tired of regurgitating days-old stories from other sites??

Maybe he was trying to steal the giant iPhone, thinking (in his inebriated state) that it was a working phone. ;)

I would LOVE a 25 inch iPhone. BEST. COFFEE. TABLE. EVER.
It would do wonders for bad posture.

Oops sorry... I mean 'William Gates' not 'Robert Gates'

maybe he was mad at apple for making him spend $30,000 to fill his ipod;
or that they didn't have the $299 laptop he saw in the best buy ad...

LOL. That is really funny that the brick didn't even do anything. Someone is about to ask if it's a slow news day.
Once, I walked by a Dell kiosk in the mall and flicked the straw of my icee toward one of the displays. One of the guys nearby wiped his face and looked up thinking something was dripping, so I guess I actually sprayed a little even though I didn't really think I did. You could say that I was more successful in mounting my attack on Dell than this guy and his brick on Apple.

I woulda kicked you in the nuts and said, "Dude, I rang your bells."

@Martin: I'm not sure I totally get the joke, but I know I deserve some sort of ridicule. It was a dickhead move, but I really didn't think anything was going to come out of it.

Huh. A story about someone TRYING to brick an iPhone, and failing to do so. Usually it's the other way around. :)
