Found Footage: Honoring Apple from 1976 to the Italian introduction of the iPad

In honor of the Italian release of the iPad, iPadItalia has created one of the best Apple-oriented videos I've ever seen. In 10 minutes (yes, it's quite long for this type of thing), the video lovingly covers Apple from its origin in 1976 right up to today when those in Italy, and many other countries, can finally get their hands on the magical and revolutionary iPad.

The video is totally professional and really deserves recognition. With frenetic energy, just about every Apple product is displayed. It is a valentine to Steve Jobs, even showing him age from 15 to 55, and ending up with rejoicing over the European introduction of the iPad. This is a video that will warm every fanboy's heart and really captures the excitement that we've felt about Apple over the last 34 years. Enjoy!

omg you guys are pricks...

I thought it was going to be pathetic...but I really watched it

and I know that 99% of you love Steve Jobs...no matter what even if you want to act all tough and be assholes...

I think it was a touching montage to the man that has made our lives so much better...if it wasn’t for him we would be pounding out crap on a buggy virus filled hunks of crap that weigh as much as a tube TV...but INSTEAD we have amazing products that have changed our lives for the better...

and actually changed PC owner's lives for the better...because if it hadn't been for all of the innovations that Apple has come out with over the years and the unreal Mac OS X & iPhoneOS operating systems...

there would be NO windows 7...
there would be NO Android...
there would be NO touch screen phones...
there would be NO mp3 players worth a crap...
hell who knows if we would have had home computers yet...seeing as Apple put the first computers in our homes...

damn get a grip

I would really love to see what our world would be like if we never had Steve Jobs...actually NO I WOULDN’T!!!

I think it was sweet and touching (maybe over the top)...but it was nice that whomever made this video wanted to celebrate Steve's accomplishments and what he has given us over the years...and to actually let him know that he is appreciated for real...for who he is to millions...and not about his millions...

I know that I have to turn people away everyday because I have no iPad's to sell them (Best Buy)...and I see the upset in their eyes as I say "no sold out"...because I know the joy it gives me...and I know that if it wasn’t for the iPhoneOS and the iDevices...my life would probably be quite boring and I would not have much fun at all...I enjoy playing games on these devices and especially on the iPad...because it is an amazing experience device

so I feel that those of you that want to down the writer of this article and down the makers of the video...piss off...you are whinny little bitches that need to sit in a time out until you get your manners back...(Child pun intended)

and as far as the quality of the video...WHY WERE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT THAT? it was an Honor Peace...not a blockbuster that you paid to see...you need to watch the video again and put yourself in the place of people in the world that don't have the access to Apple products like you do...put yourself in the place of people that can't get on a plane and cheat by coming to the states to get one earlier...put yourself in the place of these people that are truly happy to be getting the iPad...it's an amazing feeling to watch someone that has been trying and trying and trying to get one of these amazing works of art...I have seen the look in their eyes when I say YES I have one available for you today...and to know that I have made their day brighter and happier because I know they are going to adore me for quite awhile because I gave them a little bit of heaven in their eyes...

I'm not saying the iPad is heaven...but it's definitely not HELL

and for those that are good people that have left touching and supportive messages for this posting...thank you...you are true classy people that have depth and meaning in your life...thank you and I'm sorry to have SNAPPED but I am so sick of the assholes that think it's ok to just attack everything and everyone around them on a daily basis...give it a rest...don't we have enough negativity in the world...if you don't want to read this blog...THEN DON'T but stop saying it...we who do want to read it DON'T CARE...

and there is my 50¢...and keep any change there may be left
have a great day...and please be happy for once...if you have an iPad you have every reason to be happy today...because MILLIONS don't have one and would love to be you right now

Are you drunk Mr. Winograd? Lol. Yeah, I agree with everyone else. This video was really dumb. I'm writing this on my MBP right now, with an Apple Keyboard, Magic Mouse, iPad hooked up with Air Display and an iPhone 3GS in my pocket with a first gen iPhone and a first gen iPod on the shelf, and am in general a fan of the company. But this crap was edited by a two year old, I'm sure of it! You think this is professional? You should see what I can whip up with only two animation classes that I took as electives and a couple videomedia courses in high school! I wish I had the time to do it though, but I have a real life and job. Also—mine wouldn't be a SJ worship fest. That was getting really creepy. I do, however, believe in the iPad as a device that will change the technological world forever. It's already pretty crazy—I just can't imagine what it will be like in 5–10 years.

Also—Joanna D is still a huge tool. You're welcome.

I agree. And I especially agree with the Joanna Douche statement.

I'd love to see what you can come up with when you have the time.

Am I being too harsh, but I wouldn't put that in the professional category.
Every transition, every font, Ken Burns for no reason. Timings aren't too bad.
I teach Primary and if a yr 6 student presented that I would be pretty disappointed.
They know better than bombard you with different effects.
Great that someone has made it and proud of it, but wrapping it up as professional really makes any future opinion you espouse on the quality of work meaningless.

Congratulate whoever made it on their work if you like it, but I'm sure there are many professional, semi-professional or amateur video producers who are probably muttering "If you think that's professional, what would you describe mine as?"
Use words judiciously,
Damian

David,

Is it possible to standards any lower? Firstly, iMovie slideshows can come nicely crafty from time to time where it may look 'professional'. This video is a very sloppy demonstration. Annoying transitions, inconsistent subtitle font and colour, pulsating iPads, brain washing flashes of Steve Jobs and worst of all? The story reads like it was written for Kim Jung Il by the DPRK!

Very insulting to your readers. I expect higher quality from TUAW.

Well, I enjoyed the video whether it is professional or not. I thought it shows a great appreciation of Apple products. I did not purchase all of the products but I do have fond memories of my Apple IIc, which was my first computer. I also purchased a Newton MessagePad 2000, couple of iMacs and several Mac laptops including a MacBook Pro. And I really loved my iPad. So, just enjoy the video!

That should have been half as long as it was with all the back and forth crap. This was all-in-all a pretty useless video.
