New Apple Store coming to London's Covent Garden

Shanghai and Paris just got new Apple stores, and now it's London's turn. A red curtain in London's Covent Garden district shows the latest location for an Apple Retail store -- rumor has it that the store will open as soon as the end of this month, and will likely be a popular destination in the tourist-busy shopping and theater district.

Apple's Regent Street store recently got recognized for making incredible amounts of money as compared to its size -- £2000 per square foot. Apple Stores, as you well know, tend to be a little bit larger than usual retail spaces, and the sales pitches are pretty low pressure, with the opportunity to just play with the products. But it works, apparently, so Apple's Covent Garden store will be the latest of 40 to 50 different store openings around the world this year.

This has been in the works for months, I live around the corner from the store and it was originally meant to open earlier in the year. As the above poster said, the upper floors are supposedly housing the European HQ.

Speaking to a friend who works at the neighbouring Covent Garden Opera House, they're going to be making a big deal of the opening with opera singers etc. Being a 1 minute stroll from an Apple Store doesn't bode well for my bank account though (also doesn't bode well for the nearby authorised Apple dealership, Albion, based on the Strand which is a minutes walk from the new store).

Absolutely! Come on Apple, give us a store in Edinburgh.
That said, I heard recently that they already have their eyes on a location here but that the current lease-holder won't let go of it. Wouldn't tell me who it was though.

No Apple, not London, the South needs one. Bournemouth needs one really badly. Especially Castepoint. That would be a killer!

I believe that's the same location where Doc Martens Store was, the the Oakley Store Was. Gee, I wish Apple better luck than Doc Martens and Oakley had in that building! I wish they had chose Canary Wharf - it would have fit in well with all the glass and steel and modernism!

Oakley store is still there, this is across the street from there. Its a huge store and an incredible location. If you've ever been at Regent Street lately you would know how busy it is - this store is needed in London.

Oh my god! Have they renamed The Nag's Head to Nag Nag Nag? I used to drink in that old pub quite regularly, bet it's gone all trendy now.
