Richard Dreyfuss offers a dramatic reading of Apple EULA

License agreements are dull...until they're dramatically performed by an Academy Award-winning actor. The folks at CNET asked Richard Dreyfuss to read sections of an Apple EULA in dramatic fashion, and he obliged. The result is silly, hilarious and enjoyable. Don't miss the last section, "Effective Until." It's especially, well, final.

Hats off to Richard for being a good sport.

Actually, not much funny at all. It's like watching silent movie burlesque - actor's moves are "sort of" funny, but by 20-th time I see the same thing all over again I turn around and look for something more...engaging. In this case, there's only so much that a "funny voice" can convey, and it mostly isn't a lasting impression of quality entertainment.

I think we can do better than this. Not a slam on Dryfus, mind, just that he has broken the barrier, opened the floodgates and revealed that it is abundantly POSSIBLE to approach this lawyer-driven drivel as dramatic literature.

No longer will it be said that "he could read the phone directory and make it come to life." That's so then. This is so now.

But a little subtext / back story / previously on... is needed. From the director's point of view. Let's get Ian McKellen to read it as if a judge instructing a jury as to what the law is. Ask him to pull them forward through the legal language in such a way as to foster understanding.

Then toss it to Meryl Streep and have her read it incredulously as though it were written as a ransom note by a mad man.

The possibilities are non-endifull.

Great idea. I wish they would do dramatic readings of all EULAs. I would actually listen to them. I read one...a long time ago (when I was young). I truly enjoyed it. Thank you.

I would rather listen to Dick read a EULA than end up in one of these movies....

This is actually a nice idea I guess.
Listening to the agreement, brings less effort than reading and go page by page.
Patent this.

Close Encounters of the Weird Kind, and was Steven Spielberg in directing the recordings?

If you look at the photo long enough, you start to hear him read the EULA. Freaky!

I had to guess which hyperlink actually brought me to the audio file, and by the time I guessed correct, I was to exacerbated to even listen.

Looks pretty intuitive to me, there are play controls on the page for each one. Are you not using Flash?
