Cupertino city council releases 'Mothership' proposal documents

Every building begins as a work of imagination, and one of the challenges architects face when discussing their plans with clients and neighbors is how to share that inner vision effectively and accurately.

For Apple's planned 'Mothership' campus expansion in Cupertino, those efforts at conveying the master vision -- in the form of a complete plan overview, elevations and landscaping diagrams, floor plans and space allocation, and pretty pretty pictures -- are now accessible to all, thanks to the Cupertino City Council posting the PDFs it received from Apple onto the city website.

If you ever wanted to know how many trees are going to be planted on the new Apple campus (and exactly where), dig in and have fun.

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $675 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, BidsGet.com

Alas, I will never work in an workplace as beautiful as this building. Hopefully though, like all other Apple designs & concepts it will be copied by others and start a trend in elegant office park architecture.

If I were Apple (or Steve), I don't think I would like that much detail made public.

well it's not about liking anything, these sorts of things are made available as a matter of public record in accordance with local laws. steve has no control over them.

I think this is beautiful.

What a sweet spot for Apple to be in with plenty of cash and plenty of executive brilliance to conceive of such a design and such a great way to spend some of that warchest in order to expand gracefully with great taste and aesthetics!

So do they not have a car park? (or did they put that in the cloud also?)

The parking is all detailed in the floor plan doc - 2 basement levels under the main building for 4600 spaces, plus a four level parking structure with another 4300 spaces.

The cars park underground. That has been known for quite a long time now.

There's a separate car parking structure too at the very bottom of the complex which is mostly above ground - pretty nifty with photovoltaic roof panels - just the thing for charging up your electric conveyance of choice! ;)
