You're the Pundit: Why hasn't there been a new iOS 5 beta?

When it comes to forecasting the next big thing, we turn to our secret weapon: the TUAW braintrust. We put the question to you and let you have your go at it. Today's topic is iOS 5.

We last saw an iOS beta release back in August. That's well over a month ago, and as any developer can tell you, it was far from fully baked. Normally Apple ships updates every week or two, but not this time.

So why this long delay. Why has there been over a month without a new beta introduced? After all, before iOS 5 ships, developers need access to the Gold Master, so they can start the App Store submission process.

It normally takes Apple a couple of weeks to work through the huge influx once they give the green light to allow devs to submit with a new SDK.

You tell us. Place your vote in this poll and then join in the comments with all your predictions.

Why the long beta delay?
There\'s really nothing to see here. They just wanted to sync up with the new iPhone release. Expect the GM on Tuesday with no significant new features.1744 (15.5%)
Apple has been hard at work on infrastructure, delaying the GM. All the updates have been behind the scenes, which is why developers got no new seeds. Besides, there have been several new iTunes releases. Don't they count?648 (5.7%)
Apple is sitting on a feature or features that they couldn't announce. They've held off on further beta seeds because this would let the cat out of the bag.8262 (73.2%)
Apple ran across a SDK development issue that was so profound that they couldn't issue a stable beta, but it has nothing to do with hidden features or iCloud or Match infrastructure.308 (2.7%)
Something else. I'll tell you in the comments.321 (2.8%)
