iOS 5 now available for download

As of 1:00 PM EDT today, iOS 5 is available for download and installation on your compatible iOS device.

The update provides a host of new features, most of which we will cover in detail today on TUAW.com. Note that the update, according to the iTunes warning message shown above, may take quite a long time to complete; it forces a full restore of all your device apps and media.
