Apple TV+ is expanding its content lineup with a new true crime docuseries titled Twisted Yoga. The upcoming series investigates the dark reality behind a network of tantric yoga schools that allegedly concealed a global sex trafficking operation.
While Apple’s streaming platform is best known for science fiction dramas and psychological thrillers, the company now appears ready to explore the true crime genre. This shift places Apple TV+ in closer competition with platforms such as Netflix and Hulu, which have long dominated the category.

A Story Hidden Behind Spiritual Promises
According to details from Apple TV+, the three-part series follows yoga students searching for meaning and personal growth. Many of them join tantric yoga schools hoping to improve their lives and find inner peace.
However, the story takes a disturbing turn. Instead of enlightenment, several followers reportedly encounter Romanian spiritual leader Gregorian Bivolaru, who authorities link to a large-scale sex trafficking operation.
The docuseries examines how the group allegedly recruited followers worldwide while presenting itself as a spiritual movement. By blending personal testimonies, investigative reporting, and historical context, the series reveals how vulnerable people became entangled in the network.
Award-Winning Team Behind the Series
Apple TV+ assembled an experienced production team to bring the story to screen. The project comes from Emmy Award–winning producers Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn, who previously worked on acclaimed documentary projects.
Bernadette Higgins also joins the production team. Meanwhile, director Rowan Deacon leads the series. Deacon previously directed well-known investigative documentaries, including Jimmy Savile: A British Horror Story and How to Die: Simon’s Choice.
Their experience in documentary storytelling helps shape the series into a gripping and carefully researched investigation.
Global Premiere Date Announced
Apple confirmed that Twisted Yoga will premiere globally on March 13, 2026 on Apple TV+. The documentary will consist of three episodes, each exploring a different part of the story.
By releasing the series worldwide, Apple hopes to reach viewers interested in investigative storytelling and real-life crime cases.
Apple Expands Its Streaming Strategy
With Twisted Yoga, Apple TV+ signals a broader content strategy. The platform continues to invest in diverse genres that appeal to different audiences.
True crime remains one of the most popular streaming categories. Therefore, Apple’s entry into the genre could attract new viewers while strengthening the platform’s growing library of original documentaries.
If successful, the series may open the door for more investigative projects on Apple TV+ in the future.
