Daring Fireball Membership Drive 2005
It is no secret that we here at TUAW headquarters love us some Daring Fireball. John Gruber, the man behind the ball, is one of the best writers in the Apple sphere and he deserves to make some dough off of his scribblings.Once again he is offering memberships to Daring Fireball for the low price of $19 ($29 if you want the t-shirt) and I urge you to get yourself a membership. A membership gives you access to a full text RSS feed of the site as well as the feed to his Linked List. Plus, you're supporting a guy who is doing something that he enjoys and does well.
Kudos to John for offering the t-shirt in XXXL, for us larger Mac geeks. I will proudly wear my Daring Fireball shirt, will you?

I fail to see the huge interest in Gruber's writing, just like the previous commenter. I won't deny that he has written several hugely interesting articles, but for every one great one he writes, there's four or five hugely uninteresting ones about the intricacies of perl, minutae about BBEdit, and things which just aren't compelling unless you're already an expert in the field. If I was to get a membership to any blog, it would be the continually excellent Drunken Blog. But DF? Not a chance. Worth a look once a month in the hope of there being something good, but more often than not I'm left disappointed. Gruber's a good writer, but his reputation as the Mac Web's best writer is wholly undeserved based on the evidence of the majority of DF entries.

October 04 2005 at 8:54 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWell this chump is going to fire off a vote for John Gruber's most excellent writing, as I purchased a membership early last summer. He has some fantastic and unique insights into Apple, design and the tech industry and can put it all together in some well-constructed posts. He usually finds unique stuff for his Linked List as well, and the shirt is slick. I highly recommend supporting a great blogger, and no: I wasn't paid to say any of this. ;)

He's just a one-trick pony who bitches about OS X's interface. But, I seriously doubt he could design anything better, judging from his retina-burning reversed-typed website. Anyone who pays a membership fee to a blog is a c-h-u-m-p.
