Apple drops Samsung deal
Apple has dropped a joint venture with Samsung that had the company manufacturing flash memory chips for Apple. According to reports, Apple is now in talks with a US-based chip manufacturer. Recently, two Samsung executives were found guilty of conspiring to help the children of the group's chairman buy a majority stake in an affiliate at below-market prices.

I agree with Jason, I just hope it's as noble as it seems.

heh. noble intentions aside, i think apple wants to steer cleer of samsung antitrust stuff going on in south korea. i've just heard about the sons' dodgy deal thing but before this other flash memory manufacturers in south korea have brought an antitrust case against samsung or somefin' for selling the flash memory to apple at low low prices...

I still don't see the big deal, so what if it's a great price? That will just increase competition, and make the customer happy in the end. Apple shouldn't be forced to change manufactures because they were too competitive.
