Steve abandons New Balance for Nike

With all the hubbub surrounding the announcement of the Apple/Nike partnership, no one mentioned the day's most striking revelation. No one except Arik Hesseldahl, that is. In an article at Business Week Online, Arik points out that Steve was wearing a pair of Nike Moires instead of his usual New Balance 991s at the press conference. Of course, Steve couldn't wear New Balance while talking about Nike (the Moires he was wearing are part of the Nike+ line and still unavailable to the general public).

This wasn't the first time we've seen Steve stray from his typical outfit. He wore brown pants when he announced FrontRow, iTunes 6, etc. back in October.

That's right, I just put up a 129 word post about Steve's clothing. Flame away.

That's OK, but if Steve Jobs ever offers me a glass of Kool-Aid, I'm going to think twice before drinking it.

Holy crap, Greg (#9), you're right!

It's OK Dave, you're not the only person who thinks about Steveisms like that! I was gobsmacked when I realised Steve wasn't wearing jeans at the (was it?) Paris Expo iirc

The new shoes look cool... too bad I can't wear them. Not because of ethics (although that is a strong point) but due to the fact that Nike shoes are *way* too narrow for me. I'll stick with NB because they make shoes that fit the flat footed among us (namely me :-).

So is it a coincidence that the first shoes Nike created for the iPod are all black and look good with blue jeans and a black mock turtle neck? I don't think so.

I'm not sure Nike "makes" kids make their shoes. BTW, most Nikes are made in Vietnam. So much for the Communist utopia:) Oh, for thoughs of you who complain that Nike pays like a dollar a day...Any idea what a dollar is worth in Veitnam or the Philppines? Pretty sure that shirt fom Bangladesh was made by kids too. Flame On!

PS I live 20 minutes from the NB factory...Shame on you Steve ;)

I can't believe it's such a huge thing that he work Brown Pants! hahah.

I don't really like Nike as a company cause they make little kids make there shoes - and I would've preferred New Balance, cause this seems like a REALLY cool product that I would use.

Damnit.

I'd like to flame, but this is so beneath the Mac radar that my response to this will consist of: "Ummm.... OK."

As late as the Friday opening of the Apple store St. S. was wearing 991s. I checked. Which is pathetic. Spike Lee, with whom St. S. was talking, however, wore Nike everything.
