Spyshot: Louisville, KY Apple Store

Back in March, TUAW operative Kelly made us aware of what would become Kentucky's very first Apple Store. While browsing Apple's jobs boards, she found several postings for retail positions at Louisville's Oxmoor mall.

Today, reader Chris sent in this spy shot of the subtle barricade that's in front of the store. No hints there.

We still don't have any information on when this store may open, but we'll let you know as soon as we find out. Get ready, Louisville, you're closer every day!

Thanks, Chris!

Looks like it won't open until Sept. 8th.

That's funny you all said something about Columbia, SC getting an Apple Store. I go to school in Louisville and live 2 minutes from Oxmoor Mall & am from Columbia (Lexington), SC. I've been wishing for a store here too.

I don't see it happening for a while.. The market for it isn't as where it should be like a big city. In my opinion at least.

I wish I could get a job with Apple.

I applied back in May, actually, because I had heard a rumor that they were beginning an Apple Store at Oxmoor. It took about a month to get an email from Apple HR.

Interview went well, I think. Hopefully I'll see you all there and I can sell you an iPhone!

I was there the day before yesterday and noticed the doors were cracked a bit. I think folks are curious enough to pry them open because I don't think they meant for it to be that way. In any case, the store inside (behind the door) is still a clean slate.

Chris -

While it may have the "MacAuthority" store, it's no match for a real Apple store. I like the small mom-and-pops but their inventory is always small. On a few occasions, they said they'd order it for me, which is something I can do for myself. And sometimes the crummy CompUSA store nearby has more stuff. So... I'm excited a real Apple store is coming. With that said, I do hope the MacAuthority store can survive the competition. They're nice folks over there.

Regarding SC - there was a report that Downtown Charleston was going to get one this Summer. Of course, that never happened. As of now the only East Coast states that don't have Apple Stores are SC and Maine. WTH.

Louisville already has a MacAuthority, just up the street actually, but it will still be good to have an Apple retail store to help spread the brand awareness and offer a new supply of iPhones ;)
