Filed under: Odds and ends, TUAW Business
Well hello there!
Greetings, TUAW readers. England calling! It's great to be here, writing alongside a great team of Apple-loving bloggers. Eagle-eyed readers may notice that I'm joining from Download Squad just like fellow newcomer Lisa Hoover, and boy am I excited. Us Europeans, whilst lacking the iPhone, iTunes Video Store and the (relative) inexpense of Apple products, love our Apple kit just as much as the rest of the world, so you can imagine my reaction at being offered the chance of writing for the motley crew fine folks here at TUAW.I look forward to seeing where the next year takes us - and playing a part in bringing you all the greatest things to do with your Apple gear!
Disclosure: I am a free-lance contractor with a company whose product has been covered on TUAW in the past. Readers should also be aware that there are impartiality clauses we agree to adhere to as part of our contracts on ANY Weblogs Inc property.

Hi. Welcome from a fellow Brit, albeit one living in the US. Tip - there's been this craze in the UK recently for using "whilst" rather than "while". If you were writing for the Times (London) or the Guardian or the BBC (and others that I can't prove) the sub would have scrubbed "whilst" and put in "while". (They have a "while not whilst" rule.)
Also, this is really a US site. "Whilst" is not accepted usage here.
Anyway, looking forward to the Glasgow Apple Store opening on Saturday. It's in a great location on a particularly fetching part of Buchanan St. That's in Scotland by the way. Do you do Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland too or are you just reporting English news.... :)

Hi, didn't mean to be sound so snarky...!
Looking forward to having another perspective on the Apple world. There's a whole world out there of Apple fans. It's a good thing to have a non-US viewpoint. I do my best to preach the gospel when I go back "home" and the more British stores there are then the easier it is for Brits to get hands on experience...

Allan,
Not at all. I'd highly recommend (if you don't already listen) John Gruber / Dan Benjamin's excellent podcast The Talk Show Episode 5. There's a rant on the very topic :)

So the new editors are coming over to TUAW from other AOL blogs?

JeffDM, no, we're still looking for bloggers (note the banner on the right). Nik and Lisa aren't the first bloggers at Weblogs to write for more than one blog.

Got any info on when we can expect an Apple Store in Dublin? It's killing me - I've visited the two stores in Manhattan (impressive) and I hear there are a lot of stores in the U.K. but not one in poor aul Dublin!!

Hi Nik, welcome to TUAW :-) It's good to see some "european" Apple bloggers here as well...
I have a question to TUAW:
- is there a way to "submit news"???
iMovie 08 update (7.0.1) has just been released and TUAW didn't mention this, so I wondered where I can send the info!?
Well, anyway, iMovie 7.0.1 is out. Happy installing

As a fellow Englander, welcome. Maybe we'll get some decent spelling for a change and you may be able to spread the word amongst the regular TUAW people that the Internet is world-wide now and not just in the USA.
And less about hacking the iPhone, eh?
