Five new Apple retail stores open Saturday

Apple is opening its fifth retail location in San Diego county at Westfield North County Fair in Escondido this Saturday at 10 a.m. The Apple Store is centrally located in the mall on the middle level across from Nordstrom.
Opening the same day at 9 a.m. is an Apple Store for Lancaster, PA at the Park City Center. There, the Apple Store is located next to The Bonton and The Gap. Colorado Springs, CO is also getting an Apple Store at The Promenade Shops at Briargate. It opens at 10 a.m., and is located next to Pier 1 Imports on the west side of the mall. (Bonus typo on the map page.) The bay area gets another location in San Mateo, at the Hillsdale Shopping Center. It also opens at 10, and is located next to Guess and the Lego Store.
And to top it all off, the first Apple Store in Northern Ireland -- at Victoria Square in Belfast -- will be throwing open its doors at 9 a.m. The Apple Store is located on the Upper Ground Floor.
All times are local. All five grand openings will feature t-shirts for the first thousand customers, and probably lots of high-fives and yelling.
Thanks, Toby, Ross, and Jonathan!

TUAW actually has a post about the Park City store when it was written about in the Lancaster newspaper.
I'll be there at 9 as well taking pics and waiting to get my t-shirts. Hopefully my school's entire IT dept. will be there as well...

Yeah, as a Canadian, I just loooove seeing everybody else get nice, shiny, new Apple stores... and seeing absolutely none being built up here.

Krikey, what confidence. I think they're really going to do it, going to beat Microsoft!

How many Apple Stores exist world wide now?

I don't have an exact figure, but there are 45 in California alone. When Apple ended its quarter in June, they had 216 stores. They expect to have 242 open by the end of September.

Lancaster isn't exactly all Amish country...
And I would refer to the King of Prussia store as the Philly Store.
yatesy said 10:51PM on 9-16-2008
King Of Prussia is NOT Philly. It is over 45 minutes away in no traffic (and that never happens). We are a major city.

Quit your whining, Yatesy. At least you've had one in the general area. And even from about as far away as you can get in Philly...say down by the airport or the ball fields, it's only about 25 miles to the KoP mall.
Yes, Philly should have a flagship store somewhere downtown—say perhaps somewhere on Walnut between Rittenhouse and Washington Squares—but for reasons I've stated on this site before, the market defined by the Lancaster/York/Harrisburg/Reading quadrangle has needed an Apple store for a long time. I'm thinking that Hershey may have been a better choice than Lancaster, but I won't complain (seeing how Park City is only about 4 miles from my house).

*SIGH*
i'll go and window shop some more over at Bundy: "ooh, new iPod nanos. ooh, an iMac. ooh an IBM word processor from 1990."
incidently, Ardmore is more Philly than KoP. it's 45 minutes by bike and involves NO expressways. cherry hill is a half mile further in the opposite direction.
calling KoP Philly is appalling. might as well call south jersey philly too.

I'm less than 15 minutes from North County Fair in Escondido. I can't decide whether or not I want to go to the grand opening though. Part of me thinks it'll be freaking awesome, while the other part knows that I'll just end up buying something I'll regret the next day.

Same! I'm north in Temecula. We need one at the new Promenade expansion or The Triangle in Murrieta.
