The sun-stamped Apple doesn't fall far from the iTree

Some forms of Apple fandom are quick and simple -- the button, the tote bag, the temporary tattoo (not to be confused with the more permanent variety). Some forms, however, require commitment and patience. I don't speak the predominant language over at useloos.com, but I can guess that the translated caption for this photo gallery might be "How do you like them apples?"

Update: Per Cult of Mac, It looks like the source for the tattooed apples is this Japanese site -- translations welcome.

Yes, one very patient apple tree owner applied icon stencils for the Apple & iPod logos to a treeful of apples, and then let the sunshine do the work. The results can be seen to the right and at the gallery -- a bushelful of neatly logofied fruit, ripe for the munching. Talk about living your brand.

Thanks Tim!

two things:

1) did this affect the taste of the apples?

2) can the guy who did the 1500 posts be banned somehow?

Basically the site, translated, says that the idea for these apples had been "floating" around for three years or so. The person just now decided to give the tattooed apples a go. They cut out the stickers, applied them to the apples, and collected them one month later. By placing the sticker on the skin early on, the sun was unable to redden the fruit's skin. There you have it, Apple Computer apples.

Look! A shiny new Cease & Desist letter from Apple's attorneys to go with your apple pie!

I like apples too, but 1500 posts is just a tad overkill ;-)

Interestingly, this has also happened on Engadget's recent post about Pasen's PMP...with a user going by the same name, but having a different avatar. Over there, he's insisting that the comment system is doing it, not him.

That's amazing.
@ubn2
How many times did you post that.

Amazing? No, not really. He's a slightly annoying bastard, that's all.

I hope TUAW adds some checks to their comment system to prevent this from happening again... Like not accepting 1500 identical messages from the same user!

@Andrew
I completely agree with your assessment, that guy should not be able to post the same thing 1500 times. The comment system used by all the AOL web blogs really sucks. Half the time, entering your AIM screenname doesn't work. And sometimes it replies to the wrong person. I realize there can be bugs, but come on, any simple Wordpress blog has a better commenting system than this.

Just to clarify, when I said that's amazing, I was referring to the apples, not ubn2.
