Donate to the Red Cross Haiti relief effort via iTunes
The people of Haiti are enduring the devastating catastrophe brought about by this week's earthquake. Relief is finally beginning to arrive but there is an overwhelming amount of work to do.You can support the American Red Cross by making a donation through the iTunes Store. it's quite easy: Just navigate to the donation page [iTunes link] and select the amount you'd like to send. Donation options range from $5US to $200. The Store confirms that 100% of your donation will go to The American Red Cross.
Your iTunes Store account will be charged as necessary. Please do what you can to support the emergency relief efforts.

I've been donating at Wawa (a regional convenience store in the NJ, PA, DE area) each time I stop in. If it weren't for that, I would donate through iTunes, though. Good idea.

You can and should feel good about donating $5 in this case. Bill Clinton's organisation is also a good way to go. He's been on the ground and I trust him to do the right thing.
Thanks again and God bless America.
amazingly effective use of technology⦠most people donât donate because they feel that wasting 20 mins it often takes is not worth the $/£10 they are trying to donate not because they donât want to donate⦠this makes it so easy⦠fantastic...

I've seen your flames here and there on this blog. Even in a time of real tragedy, you still find a way to speak your agenda.
Get a life. Get a conscious. Go away.
Then why did you bring up trust if it's a tax issue?

If you have some money sitting around in PayPal you can also donate via this link (the only PayPal one I can find, and the one I used):

So because YOU don't live in the US means that the Red Cross isn't trustworthy? Seems to be a failed bit of logic. Should I also stop watching BBC World News because they aren't a trustwothy news source for me as an American?
January 16 2010 at 5:41 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI did and was easy thanks to iTunes. Everyone reading this blog who has a conscious should too... terrible disaster! Buy $10 less apps this year and give $10.
January 16 2010 at 5:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyEr...I have tried, and unless you have a payment method (credit card etc.) you CANNOT donate. If your credit comes from gift cards, for example, you are NOT able to donate. I'll just have to send the money a different way, but one gets the feeling that red tape and bureaucrats always throw spanners in the works, even when people are dying...
January 16 2010 at 5:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyyou can send a text to some number - look it up on whitehouse.gov or cnn - don't trust me :) text haiti to 90999
it's 10 bucks a pop, you get the chance to confirm. it goes to the red cross.
the donation shows up on your cell bill but i'm pretty sure you have to pay that bill before the red cross sees a penny
Errr.. don't you think credit card transactions account for the majority of revenue on iTunes? Gift card transactions aren't the same as credit or debit transactions. They're classified as "prepaid" (or gift) and processed differently with merchant's, merchant's banks, and with your bank.
It's great that iTunes is doing this. It makes it easy for people to donate and gives its user a sense of trust (versus going to a charity site directly).
