Apple to open new stores in Italy

Job ad for Apple's new store in Sicily

Apple is planning to open yet another new Apple Store in Italy, this time in Sicily, according to job adverts spotted on the company's website.

Along with job ads for the new store in Bologna, Apple is looking for staff to work in an as-yet unannounced store in Sicily. Local newspapers are speculating that the store will be in the town of Catania, near the volcano Mount Etna, and it will open by the end of summer 2011. Looks like that will put an end to Apple's new store dry spell.

Nonsense. Sicily is a region, all the other items in the list are cities. Sicily is the English spelling, all the others are the Italian spelling. This is just a poor photoshop job.

They need to open an iconic Apple Store in Rome like they did with Paris. It's crazy that the Eternal City doesn't have a store to do it justice. The Rome store is way out in the burbs, in a random shopping center. A complete nightmare to get to, often requiring a special trip.

Contractors will start work on the construction of a fifth Italian Apple Store next month, says La Repubblica. The outlet will be based in the northern city of Bologna, and occupy a former Stephanel clothing shop at Via Francesco Rizzoli 16. The store itself should occupy 5,300 square feet spread across two floors. A third floor will be reserved for Apple offices and meeting space.
