Apple cake pops made to raise money to fight pancreatic cancer

A baker in England has made these gorgeous cake pops (featuring some Apple logos and Steve Jobs's likeness) to raise some donation money for a pancreatic cancer charity. The pops will go on sale next Wednesday in London, when cake blogger and maker "Miss Cakehead" is set to open up a "Steve Jobs Inspired Cake Shop." The whole event is part of something called Internet Week Europe, and all proceeds from the Steve sweets will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer UK.

We can't be in the UK by then, unfortunately, but we hope the cakes get all the money they're worth, considering just how great they look. And we're very curious to see what a "Steve Jobs Inspired Cake Shop" looks like. If anyone in the neighborhood over there is reading this, be sure to take pictures!

Wait until Apple's lawyers tear every cake pop apart.

I don't know what percentage of the proceeds will go to the charity but it's not an actual store opening. It will be open only for a day at The Hospital Club in central London and is part of the five day festival, Internet Week Europe celebrating Europe's internet industry and community. The items will come from a variety of contributors. It's not just Apple but will be "geek or mac inspired." It's a word of mouth event. They aren't doing any advertising beyond the Blogosphere.

Don't be at all surprised if Apple moves to stop this through legal action.

Wonderful that some money for a good cause may be generated, but I think those look anything but "gorgeous". There have been much more beautifully designed apple inspired confections over the years, and tribute or no, I think Steve would cringe at their sloppiness.

Also, how much of the sales being donated to charity is conspicuously without mention, which leaves me feeling that this is likely nothing more than a self-serving marketing ploy.
