Kentucky's first Apple Store planned

Eagle-eyed TUAW reader Kelly pointed out this posting for Apple Store positions at Oxmoor Center in Kentucky. This will be the bluegrass state's first Apple Store. No more driving to Indianapolis, Cincinnati or Nashville!

Of course, they're still in the early stages of this location. If any of you see hints of the store-to-be in Oxmoor Center, let us know!

I was so excited that I walked all around Oxmoor to see if I could figure out where the store might go--agree that the space near Coach is most likely--asked at the info. desk when the store is scheduled to open and was told it's not a done deal and that no lease has been signed and that the article jumped the gun. I mentioned that Apple was advertising jobs--they indicated that was irrelevant until the lease is signed. as far as I could tell, there were no workmen in any of the empty spaces. I hope this is just the way they keep a secret.

Well, no signs up yet but two very possible/likely locations. The most likely I think is an empty space near the "Dicks Sporting Goods" Entrance, next door to "Coach" and across the hall from Eddie Bauer in the East Wing. This wing of the mall is filled with the higher end stores (Coach, Eddie Bauer, Gap, Banana Republic, Sephora, Macys, etc), a shiny Apple store would fit in perfectly.

The other possible location is at the other side (still in the front of the mall) where Victoria Secret used to be. It looks as if they might be remodeling Victorias Secret but they might not be. There is an empty space upstairs near the food court but I can't visualize an Apple store there, it would seem pretty out of place.

My money is on the spot in the East Wing. If the plywood comes down and some sign of Apple life shows up I'll definitely snap some photos and send them in.

There are 3 or 4 possible locations in Oxmoor. I live in Louisville and a lot of stuff has been closing there. When I get a chance, I will go see if they have put any signs up for it yet.

Lexington really needs an Apple store. I thought for sure we'd get
one before Louisville, but I guess not. Louisville is no closer than
Cincinatti for me, maybe 10 minutes or so. Oh, well, I'm moving in
the fall anyway...

@Izza:

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt by thinking that your comment is a joke. If not, fuck off.

@Dave (the author): No, we don't have to drive to Cincinatti anymore, but I still have to drive to Louisville, which, for me, is only slightly closer. Here's to hoping that Lexington gets one (Hamburg would be the perfect spot).

Roberto, we've already been hit with the online sales tax for a while now.

Aaron, try this link...

I'm so happy that we're finally getting an Apple retail store although I'm slightly worried about the location. Oxmoor Mall is literally across the street from a much busier mall (St Matthews Mall), it is more or less known for failure in comparison to the other mall. With that said, Oxmoor is starting to look like a "more mature" location as they are getting stores aimed more at people in their 30s and up whereas the other one is starting to float towards the teen crowds.

Heck, this may be just the boost that Oxmoor needs to get some more traffic in its doors! I'm running by there for lunch today, if I see any signs of the location I'll be sure to snap a few photos and post them up.

Awesome, that's my home town. It's quite a technology town too, so it's kind of surprising they haven't gotten one before this.

Now they'll be charged sales tax on all online purchases. Yipee!
