According to ifoAppleStore, Virginia's newest Apple Store will open this weekend at Fair Oaks. This time, Fairfax, Virginia will play host, joining McLean, Norfolk, Richmond and Arlington (they've got two. Lucky dogs).Doors will open on Saturday, April 26th at 10 AM. As usual, we're asking any TUAW readers who visit this store over the weekend to share their stories and pictures. The first 1,000 people to show up will receive a T-shirt, but there won't be a big giveaway this time around (sorry, Fair Oaks!).

I have been watching this one being built... very excited! Pretty annoying to go to McLean all the time with the traffic.

Um... actually, it's Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, Virginia; not Fair Oaks, Virginia. Point your Google Map at the intersection of Routes 66 and 50 outside of Washington, DC.

Yep, how about punching in the address given by that shiny link you posted and get the correct mappage?
11750 Fair Oaks, Fairfax, VA

I'm not sure that your map indicates the correct Fair Oaks, Virginia. It sounds like you are looking for an location in Northern VA; this shows an area just east of Richmond.

Um...TUAW...when they refer to Fair Oaks....they are referring to Fair Oaks, in Farifax County, VA...more than likely....I wonder if it's in the mall or in the strip mall where CompUSA was.

I also wanted to add, that virginia has multiple Apple stores:
Arlington, Clarendon
Arlington, Pentagon City
McLean, Tysons Corner
Norfolk, MacArthur Center
Richmond, Short Pump Town Center
Northern Virginia has:
Arlington, Clarendon
Arlington, Pentagon City
McLean, Tysons Corner
This store would make the count 4

Edit: (why can't we edit comments)
Your google map picture doesn't make sense. It shows a location in Henrico county (western part of the state)
Fair Oaks is referring to Fair Oaks Mall, which is near the area called Fair Lakes (and the Fair Lakes Shopping center). In-between both is the Fairfax county parkway
Address to query in google maps:
Fair Oaks Mall
Fairfax, VA 22033

Don't forget two stores in nearby Bethesda, Md. and stores within relatively easy driving distance (I didn't say anything about easy traffic) in Annapolis and Columbia, Md. A new store is purportedly under construction in Georgetown, DC as well. With all these stores, it does seem like places for new Apple locations in the DC region are becoming fewer and fewer though.

The store is definitely in Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax Virginia, at the intersection of I-66 and US Route 50. I've seen it under construction.
I wonder why they don't correct the map? If you head out westbound I-64 from Richmond, you might find an apple store in an apple grove, but not an Apple Store in a shopping mall.

I might add that I've been waiting for the Fair Oaks store for two years. The only one that's feasible for me to get to, from a traffic and gridlock standpoint, is Tyson's, and even that takes advance planning. I've had to sneak out of work early on Tuesday or time myself to leave after rush hour and arrive before closing. Not fun when you have to see a genius about a problem.
Fair Oaks Mall is definitely much more accessible to those of us who live west of it.
(Tuesday is generally the slowest day in retail and a great day to go shopping.)

Man...the one thing I miss about living in the DC area was how many Apple Store options there were. They were everywhere and even had their own section in Best Buy. Now, down here in Greenville, SC there's not even an Apple section in the Best Buy! It's so sad, the closest is Charlotte, NC which is two hours away! And I'm not even going to get started on those who think I should go to Charleston. Please Apple, bring one of your beautiful stores to the Greenville area, I'm going through withdrawals!

You might not have to wait long. Apple Stores seem to be popping up like Starbucks (used to).
I don't see the problem with the two-hour trip to Charlotte. You used to live here. You know that we don't drive places in the DC area; we just sort of exchange parking spaces until we get there. Two hours is about as long as it would take to get to the Mall Formerly Known As Montgomery from Fairfax City, plus you'd have scenery!
Before long, there will be an Apple section in the Best Buy section of the Apple Store.

Alas, alack! A new store opens within walking distance, and yet it's one of the four days in the year that my company does inventory. Oh, the tragedy. ...Guess, I'll just have to wait till Sunday. Woe. (really though, I'm okay with it...)
