Details emerge on future Apple Stores
Details are beginning to emerge on future Apple Stores. First of all, ClarionLedger is reporting that Mississippi's first Apple Store is in the works. They've begun advertising for retail positions in at the Renaissance at Colony Park, with rumors saying that the store could open in the next couple of weeks.Likewise, the first Apple Store in the southern hemisphere moved one step closer to opening day in Sydney, Australia. Similar to a tactic they used in Boston, the facade hiding the store from the public has been covered with a sign that reads, "Drop in soon. Apple Store, Sydney."
TUAW readers in Mississippi and Sydney: Keep your eyes peeled for us and let us know if you see anything interesting!

Neh. No need to bother with those. The only store that really matters is the downtown Montreal one.

Someone needs to remind Steve Jobs that we STILL don't have an Apple Store in Philadelphia... How many does NYC have now?

I guess us Canadians don't get any press - maybe it was your holiday on Monday but a nice shiny new store opened in Vancouver on Saturday.

Someone finally notices that there is no Apple store in Philly... then i realize there is one in ardmore.
Ardmore is what, 7 miles away? In the age where cars are a dying breed, thats a trek, not a short drive.

The closest one to me is over an hour...I'd say count my blessings if I were you.

Can anyone in MS confirm the Renaissance location? I don't trust the ClarionLiar at all, and the last time I was over there, I walked the location, and couldn't find where I would've thought it would be located.
I would love to be wrong here, and would love to see the store opening in the next few weeks/months. Needed a mouse a couple days ago for my Macbook Pro (like having a mouse for graphic work still), and had to go to Best Buy. Needless to say, an Apple Store would be a welcome addition.

Bryan, it's happening in MS/Renaissance. I talked to the recruiter a few days ago.

I can't confirm a location at the Renaissance but there is an unofficial Apple store on Highway 51 called User Friendly.

Yeah, I know about it, I've done business there a couple of times, but I've never been really impressed. And to be quite honest, since the Trace opened up, I don't think I've touched 51. Either way, I'll be happy when the Apple Store opens up, and hopefully it will be at the Ren. location. Cheers!

Ohhh and don't forget the new store opening at the Friendly Shopping Center in Greensboro, NC. I have confirmed that there are in fact job postings on Apple.com! Now if only they'd set a date! I've been cruising the parking lot looking at the papered-over windows trying to figure which space will be Apple's new home.

It's a very exciting time for apple users in central MS. We won't have to drive for hours to get to an Apple Store now!

There will be a second store in Northeast Ohio - at Crocker Park in Westlake - should be open in the Fall.

the City of Ridgeland, MS did their best to keep Apple from opening. The City's architectual review board initially REJECTED Apple's store design !
Thankfully, the decision was reversed...quite possibly due to a large number of irate phone calls, trashing in the media, etc...
I believe it the day I can walk in...

Is it Ridgeland or Madison? Definately could believe Madison, based off all the beautification laws, but Ridgeland? Are they getting that kind of stupid too?

How about one in Youngstown, Ohio. One of the largest metropolitan areas without an Apple Store a short drive away. If we need a store, we have to drive to Cleveland or Pittsburgh, both an hour and a half away.

Poor little Adelaide may never see an Apple store... I guess it must be hard to justify when our population is a *yawn* 1.1 million. We're still a capital city!! I can't afford to travel the 1,400kms just to see the Sydney store open :( - But at least it's a step in the right direction for Apple in Australia. Once the iPhone gets here their computer sales will most likely go up - the iPod has already helped a lot with their branding here... well, everywhere.

But what's with the blue? Is it a Boston-like local joke?

Still waiting for Fargo, ND. The closest is in the Mall of America north of Minneapolis. 3 hours away.
