Online Brazilian Apple Store now live

After months of rumors, Apple's official online store for Brazil has officially opened at apple.com/br. It joins the 34 other countries with localized online stores. The Brazilian store is a mirror of many others and joins Apple's effort to establish a presence south of the United States. Presently, there are localized online stores in Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador among others.
Right now, there are no brick-and-mortar Apple Stores in Brazil, but they do run eight "Stores within a store" complexes in association with Fnac (similar to the arrangement with Best Buy here in the USA). Brazilian customers have anticipated the real thing for a long time.
Here's hoping you get physical stores soon. Until then, enjoy your online shopping, Brazil!

I'm a bit confused. Apple Online Store, App Store, Apple iTunes Store... I use regularly the App Store in Chile to buy/download iPhone applications, but there's no iTunes nor "Official Online" stores in Chile.

@Carlos
Apple Online Store - An internet store where you can buy Apple productos directly. iPods, Macs, Software, among others. This is available in the US, Europe, Japan, Mexico and NOW Brazil.
App Store - Application store for iPod Touch and iPhone when you can download apps (software) for you device. This is available in MANY Countries. ALmost the entire world.
iTunes Store - Similar to the App Store but in this one you can buy music, tv shows, movies etc. This is the MOST exclusive one. This is service is just available in 21 countries like Canada, USA, Europe, Japan and Mexico.
I hope now you get it

@aleenm88
Yes, thanks. I suspected it was like that.
Well, at least we have authorized online resellers here in Chile (In fact, I bought a MacBook and iPod touch from one of them).

A better link for FNAC in Brazil would be http://www.fnac.com.br/.

as usual Brazilians pay more for imports than anybody. The price for a 15 inch MBP 2.53GHZ equals more than 3,000 dollars. Everything is double for them. The ironic thing is that Brazilians make less money than americans, a lot less. It's fkdup.

Inflated prices like that are the result of tariffs from the country in question. Don't get upset at Apple or the US.

Same here in Argentina, and obviously this is Argentinean Government fault, not Apple´s an iMac 24" 3.06 here is 3000 US dollars, and the avg salary is 600/700 dolls a month.

The Fkdup thing is that Brasilians view less expensive products as inferior, and, being the proud people they are often price their own, locally produced products at par with the inflated, tariff ridden imports so as not to seem of poorer quality. I visit my inlaws there a couple times per year and usually can't even afford anything other than food while I'm there. Couple that with no such thing as a fixed interest rate, and you can see why they poverty level is so high there.

Well,
this is STILL cheaper than FNAC. the 17 inch at FNAC is about 11,000 reais, or 6,000 dollars. YEA!
funny part though is that 1% of the brazilian population is uber rich and that 1% fuels the economy and prices like these inflated apple prices.

Tariffs, import taxes dude. Apple can't make their product cheaper, just so you can use it. It's a privilege there just like it is here. Still can fly here and get one if need be. Sounds cheaper than buying it there.

There is at least one Apple regular brick & mortar store in Brazil (not inside Fnac), at Shopping Iguatemi, in São Paulo.

I live in Paraguay, and our only thing that is even related to Apple is an authorized dealer called the "Big Manzana," (the Big Apple). Its really pretty sad inside.
