First review of the... iPhone?

Some people have all the luck. The folks over at Evil Mad Scientist Labs got their hands on an iPhone. They didn't keep the goodness all to themselves though, they reviewed it so that the masses could have a little of the enjoyment. They like the screen, but are a little disappointed in the color saturation. iCal works like a charm, but writing in cursive with your finger tip is deceptively difficult.
Finally, the iPhone seemingly sports Apple's old logo, which adds a little retro-chic to the device.
Thanks, Windell.

Apple will likely never touch the "Newton" moniker again.
Apart from the venture costing the company hundreds of millions, and the bulk of products ending up in a landfill as a tax writeoff, it has particular overtones for Steve Jobs as it was the brainchild of John Sculley, the CEO who betrayed him and forced him out in a boardroom coup in 1985.
(Among Sculley's other decisions was greedily raising the release price of the first Macintosh from $1995 to $2495, thus ensuring it wouldn't sell as well during its first few years. Source: Andy Hertzfeld's Revolution in the Valley.)
Rumor has it, that after Jobs' return to Apple in the late 90s, he was in his office playing with a few Newton models and tossed them out the door in sheer frustration. The entire division was shelved soon after.
I loved my Newton! Apple should bring out a retro collection!

It's just a Newton with color and a phone, minus the open platform.
Oh, and yes I know it is a Newton.
